Very genuine mare. Terrific return against the boys behind the flying Skyhook then no match for Lazzura second up, but excellent.

Racing and Sports

LAZZURA (1) hasn't raced since a win in the G2 Golden Pendant at Rosehill over 1400m four weeks ago. Kept ticking over with a recent trial at Rosehill. Top contender and can take this out. IDLE FLYER (2) was safely held last start when 14th over 1600m in the G1 Epsom Handicap at this track. May appreciate the shorter journey this time. Well placed and is among the leading players. PERFUMIST (10) missed the placings last time out over 1600m in the G1 Epsom Handicap at this track but is far better placed over this shorter trip. Can bounce back. VERONA ROSE (3) is fitter for two runs back from a spell, progressing nicely last time to finish second, beaten 1.2 lengths, in the G2 Golden Pendant at Rosehill over 1400m. Good record at this journey with two wins and two minor placings from five starts and should be in the finish.

Dabble

LAZZURA (1) Finished with purpose when winning last start at Rosehill and hard to fault at the trip. Tommy Berry takes the reins today. Will go close today. GERRINGONG (9) Ran on strongly to win last time at Rosehill but will have to carry extra weight. Has to be included. IDLE FLYER (2) Lost ground in the run home when 14th last run at this track but will find this grade more suitable. Hard to fault at the trip. Goes up in weight. Can win at odds. TUILERIES (8) Just missed last start at Rosehill. Follow market leads.

Racing and Sports

LAZZURA (1) is probably the best Group 2/3 mare in the country and she finds a lovely race again. Sat just off the leaders then went home far too well in the Racing And Sports Golden Pendant over this trip at Rosehill four weeks ago. The wide barrier presents a challenge for Berry but with even luck she wins again. The danger could be IDLE FLYER (2) if she brings her A-game. Got within two lengths of Autumn Glow two back then was never on the track in the Epsom so forget that run. At her best she is Group 1 quality so do not rule her out. PERFUMIST (10) trounced them in the Tibbie first-up at Newcastle over today's distance then faded after racing on the speed in the Epsom, adding to a poor second-up record. In the right race to bounce back. VERONA ROSE (3) took a bit of ground off LAZZURA when they clashed four weeks ago. Draws perfectly but has never fired third-up which is the niggle. Nivison winner GERRINGONG (9) is yet to win in six 1400m runs but should be thereabouts.

Best Bets

All mares here. In fact all but one of them are 5YO or older. Presume 10 and 13 can lead 11 and 9. It looks a very challenging draw for LAZZURA but clearly her latest 12 months is career best work and if she runs up to what she offered 3rd-up last prep she can still be the one to beat. GERRINGONG was rock-solid on return and finds favours from her barrier. She was a close 2nd to Stefi Magnetica in this race 12 months ago. A perfect trail awaits VERONA ROSE and has been typically good both 1st- and 2nd-up. LAZZURA meets her better at the weights but not barriers. TUILERIES was terrific when resuming and would be no surprise winner either.
