Racing and Sports
SIR DELIUS (3) finished 3.5 lengths from the winner in fourth last time out in the G1 Turnbull Stakes at this track over 2000m. Has a very good record over today's journey with three wins from five starts. Craig Williams who has three wins when partnering stays on. Sure to run well. AELIANA (10) has registered two minor placings from three runs this preparation. Continued the trend at the most recent appearance when third over 2000m in the G1 Turnbull Stakes at this track. Worth noting James McDonald goes aboard. Meeting a deeper field this time but she deserves plenty of thought. CEOLWULF (1) turned in an eye-catching run last start over 1609m in the G1 King Charles Iii Stakes at Randwick, dropping out early before coming home with a powerful run to finish second. Solid top-three hope. BIRDMAN (6) stuck on well last start to finish third over 2000m in the G1 Might And Power Stakes at Caulfield after showing good early speed. It doesn't get any easier but on his best form he is good en

Field of twelve runners for the 2026 Cox Plate. Track is currently a Good 4 however showers forecast on the day will see a downgrade into the soft range. Plenty of speed about here with pace drawn out wide so expect a fast tempo. Land Legend likely to take up the running from Blind Raise and Light Infantry Man stalking the speed. Sir Delius and Warwoven are poised to get lovely runs from their favourable draws.Warwoven has been outstanding this spring, completing the Golden Rose–Caulfield Guineas double and now gets his chance to measure up against the older horses. His 49.5kg impost is a major advantage, and from barrier two he should receive every opportunity to settle prominently and finish strongly. On ratings, he's run the required number consecutively leading up to this. The distance might be a query on paper however his mother won a Group 2 over this distance by 4.5L in NZ. He's clearly bred to run the distance and I do like how he's been running away from the opposition late. Aeliana is the main danger, bringing a strong ratings profile and the services of James McDonald, who continues his outstanding record in the race. She has the class to win if she gets the right run, but Warwoven’s weight advantage and upward trajectory make him the preferred option. Light Infantry Man loves the track and distance. His run in the Turnbull was solid and he's much better taking a sit with a strong tempo ahead. I have to be with him at the price. Sir Delius doesn't appear to be going as well this prep so I'm happy to oppose him at the current price. Ceolwulf brings a different formline but I think he's better suited at the mile - seems very skinny as well. Cosmic Crusader had every possible chance in the Caulfield Cup and drops back in trip here. This may be his last run before a spell. Blind Raise has ability however hasn't drawn to get an easy run on speed.WARWOVEN (11) Finished with purpose when winning last time at Caulfield and gets a favourable gate. Maintaining a perfect record the last 3 runs but racing against tougher rivals. Winning hope. AELIANA (10) Good effort to place 3rd last run at the track but taking on stronger rivals. James Mcdonald is a suitable booking. Showing great form this campaign. Appears well in this. SIR DELIUS (3) Peaked in the closing stages when 4th last run here on a heavy surface but up against tougher rivals. Can take this out. CEOLWULF (1) Backing up quickly. Caught the eye when 2nd beaten by 2 1/4L last start at Randwick. In top form this campaign. Watch it go close.
Racing and Sports
The Cox Plate and SIR DELIUS (3) has been set for this race and this race only for some time. Two runs back have been pass marks and while he was going a shade better at this stage in the Autumn his win in the QEII third-up posted a rating that the others will struggle to match. Gets a beautiful map, dry ground and a strong pace to aim at, he goes on top. AELIANA (10) does boast a 3-1 record over SIR DELIUS including last start in the G1 Turnbull Stakes where she finished hard to grab third. J-Mac goes on fourth up, she'll be tracking into it on the turn and letting rip. CEOLWULF (1) is flying. He backs up from chasing Autumn Glow last week. Ready for 2000m and like the draw where he'll have last say. BIRDMAN (6) was awesome winning the G1 Underwood two back and is a big chance if he gets back to that form - don't write him off. The 3yo's WARWOVEN (11) and BLIND RAISE (12) were both excellent in the Guineas, WARWOVEN could be special but BLIND RAISE was huge given the race shape.
Best Bets
Land Legend went at a strong pace in front at Caulfield and should do so again. SIR DELIUS has turned in two passable runs this time in. He won the Queen Elizabeth Stakes third up in the autumn and everything points to him peaking again here. AELIANA is another whose whole campaign looks designed for a peak in this race.
