Finished well when winning last start at the track and has a positive barrier. Might have to make up considerable ground. Has to cope with a weight increase. Needs to find a lot more.

Third-up today and placed third-up previously. First-up 5th of 13 in a G2 Theo Marks Stakes at Rosehill on September 12 over 1300m, 2.25 len behind Skyhook with 53kg at $41. Second-up was well back until straightening; raced back then made ground from the turn; won by 1.75 len in the G1 Epsom Handicap at this track on October 3 over 1600m on a rain affected track defeating Ceolwulf with 50kg at $26. Has gone to a new level but tested in this grade.

Produced beautifully down the outside with clear running and was a dominant winner in the Epsom with a light weight. Harder here.

Won the G1 mile at Randwick last start by 1.7 lengths, coming from the rear to score. Maps back again, so the race shape will matter, but the latest win gives him a strong case.

Ran home into 2nd last run at Flemington but challenged by a tougher grade. Has good tactical speed and will be nicely positioned. Producing consistent results this campaign. This won't be easy.

Form hard to fault. Most recently sat on the speed and boxed on steadily 2nd of 11 in the LR Paris Lane Stakes at Flemington on October 3 over 1400m, on heavy track; 1.3 len behind Cote Atlantique with 59kg at $9. The run before that tried to lead throughout but was claimed late 2nd of 16 in a LR Heatherlie Stakes at Caulfield on August 29 over 1700m, on a slow track; 0.8 len behind Kingswood with 59kg at $11. Conditions suit and can sneak into the minor money.

Fresh and back in trip last start, he was very brave, wide on a fast pace and tough to the line. Conditions might be in his favour.

Runner-up in a Listed race at Flemington last start, beaten 1.3 lengths, after another Listed second at Caulfield. On pace again, but the step up to G1 company is a stiff test.

Most recently 6th of 8 in the G2 Hill Stakes at Rosehill on October 10 over 1900m, 2.5 len behind Attrition with 59kg at $5.50. The start before that 10th of 16 in the G1 Epsom Handicap at this track on October 3 over 1600m, slow going 4 len behind God's Window carrying 53.5kg at $61. Back in trip on the quick backup, value contender.

Slow to begin last week then never likely with the race not run to suit. Any rain will help. Place best.

Eighth in the G2 at Rosehill last start after an awkward beginning and early hampering; the previous G1 mile run was also unplaced. His recent figures leave him with too much to find.

Second-up. First-up after four months favourite; won by 1.5 len in the G2 John F Feehan Stakes at Caulfield on September 27 over 1600m defeating Treasurethe Moment carrying 57kg at $1.85. Previously second-up 2nd of 12 in the G1 Australian Cup at Flemington on March 28 over 2000m, slow going nose behind Light Infantry Man carrying 57kg at $11. Tougher race today and her second up record is not as convincing.

Never looked in doubt first up. Runner-up in 2024 and seventh in 2025 off Feehan wins. Hasn't won two in a row since November 2023.

Fresh from a 1.5-length G2 mile win at Caulfield, with the front-running map in her favour. Likely to dictate and is hard to beat.

AUTUMN GLOW (5) scored by 1.3 lengths last start in the G2 7 Stakes at this track over 1600m after she was prominent at the corner. Has found the frame in all three starts at this journey, including three wins. Has the pace to be in a prominent position from the outset. Among the leading chances. PRIDE OF JENNI (6) went forward and proved too strong when resuming last time out, scoring by 1.5 lengths over 1600m in the G2 John F Feehan Stakes at Caulfield. This looks a sterner test than last time but on her best form she is one of the chief contenders. CEOLWULF (1) is racing well without winning, including last start when second over 1600m in the G1 Epsom Handicap at this track. Goes well at this distance including four wins so he is among the leading chances. JUST FOLK (3) is a genuine type with five minor placings from seven starts this prep. Produced another good effort last start when second over 1400m in the LR Paris Lane Stakes at Flemington. Must be included in this sort of form.

Dabble

AUTUMN GLOW (5) Set the tempo to win by a margin of 1 1/4L last time at this venue. Has not missed this campaign with 2 wins from as many starts. Has lots of appeal and should go close. CEOLWULF (1) Was strong late when 2nd last start here and has drawn the rails. Chad Schofield does know the horse very well. In good shape since resuming from a spell. Possesses the talent and has some chance. GOD'S WINDOW (2) Dashed home to win last start at the track and will try to take advantage of the draw. Prefers to settle towards the rear. Will have to carry extra weight. This is not out of reach. MILITARIZE (4) Backing up quickly for this race. Tailed off when 6th last start at Rosehill and competing in a higher grade. Likely to get back. Cannot dismiss.

Timeform (FanDuel)

AUTUMN GLOW (5) first loss of her career came when third to Sir Delius in the Queen Elizabeth over 1 ¼m here in the autumn. Returned with two effortless victories in the G1 Winx Stakes (7f) and G2 Seven Sunrise Stakes over 1m here. Undefeated at the trip and on rain-affected going. Stalks the speed and is the one to beat again. CEOLWULF (1) won this race last year and appears to be going just as well after his unlucky second in the G1 Epsom Handicap over this course and distance. Gets the right set-up and can really test favourite. MILITARIZE (4) backs up for the third week in succession after running sixth in the G2 Hill Stakes at Rosehill over 1 ³/16m last Saturday. Conditions suit and goes into the exotics. JUST FOLK (3) is holding form and can give a bit of cheek on his preferred race surface.

Best Bets

For a field of six you could argue this race had just about everything. That idea took a dramatic turn on Thursday when it was announced PRIDE OF JENNI would be withdrawn. That leaves the lead to AUTUMN GLOW, something she did last start to good effect. CEOLWULF does look perfectly set up, through the Epsom as he has been the last two years. Blinkers go on as well but his issue is that he has met AUTUMN GLOW five times and he is 0-5 down. He was within a length of her as they straightened last start and while he certainly battled on respectably the great mare had him comfortably covered. Not that she ran away to win by a big margin.

The 5 million dollar Group 1 King Charles III Stakes is run over a metric mile, and the champion mare 5. AUTUMN GLOW, will be many people's anchor in the quaddie after cruising to victory in both of her starts this season. She is again well placed with the mares allowance, and even though last week proved that favourites can get rolled, this mare won't be. 1. CEOLWULF was unlucky not to have gone close to winning last time out in the G1 Epsom when badly held up at a vital stage in the run home. A heavy track may help slow down the champion mare, but he may need even more than that to win this. 4. MILITARIZE is getting fitter, and a wet track would enhance his top 4 claims in a small 6-horse field. 3. JUST FOLK and 2. GOD'S WINDOW are both looking for a slice of 5 million dollars in a 5-horse field.
