REGAL AMBITION (9) closed too well to score by one length last time out over 1440m in the LR Jim Moloney Stakes at this track at the second run of the campaign. Leading player again. PRETTY BABY (2) placed as favourite last time over 1440m at this track after she had won four races on end. No surprise to see her atone. OVER THE BRIDGE (8) scored last start in the G3 Scarborough Stakes at this track to make it two wins from two starts this campaign. Should park just off the speed. Sure to be competitive. DE ARMAS (4) is fitter for two runs back from a spell, progressing nicely last time to finish second, beaten a long neck, in the G1 Flight Stakes at Randwick over 1600m. Looks a definite top-three candidate.

Dabble

SAINTLY DANCER (3) Led throughout to win by 6L last time at Flemington and putting a tidy record together. Has good tactical speed and will be nicely positioned. Racing consistently this campaign. Strong hope. OVER THE BRIDGE (8) Reeled them in to win last start at this venue and going over more ground. Flying this preparation with 2 wins from 2 starts but up in grade. Gets a chance to win. DE ARMAS (4) Was agonizingly close last run at Randwick and solid career start. Jockey William Pike adds value. Respect against this field. LARA ANTIPOVA (1) Lost ground late when 4th last run around here. Should be going forward early. Must be considered.

Timeform (FanDuel)

Onto the G1 Thousand Guineas and siding with REGAL AMBITION (9) through a fantastic win in the Jim Moloney Stakes last time out. She was slowly away but really ripped home there to win well having also reeled off huge splits to win fresh. She should relish the mile and is the one with all the upside. She beat PRETTY BABY (2) fair and square there although Pretty Baby did start a clear favourite. Pretty Baby would potentially prefer soft ground and has been up a while but gets a nice run for D Lane. Very wary of OVER THE BRIDGE (8) who is 2/2, too strong on speed here last time. Goes 6f to 1m but Maher has a history of doing similar things, have to respect. DE ARMAS (4) was similarly 6f to 1m in the G1 Flight Stakes and ran very well albeit in moderate figures. Can improve again for Waller. SAINTLY DANCER (3) bolted in the G2 Edward Manifold at Flemington on heavy ground, she'll give a sight again.

Best Bets

Grinzinger Heart, Saintly Dancer and Icelady should ensure a good pace. DE ARMAS fought on well and just missed in the Flight Stakes at her second run for Chris Waller. REGAL AMBITION and PRETTY BABY came away from the rest running the quinella here last time. Pretty Baby has drawn better and can beat Regal Ambition home this time. ICELADY held off SAINTLY DANCER a week earlier, then Saintly Dancer bolted in on a heavy track. Both have claims. Cases can be made for LARA ANTIPOVA, OVER THE BRIDGE, SING YOUR SONG and PLATINUM PEARL.

REGAL AMBITION franked her maiden win fresh up with an impressive victory in the Jim Moloney Stakes here nearly 3 weeks ago over 1440m, when storming home out wide to score by a length, going away at the line. The hat-trick beckons. 2. PRETTY BABY had no answer as the favourite to the top pick in the same race, and had to settle for second. She had won 4 on the bounce prior, including a stakes win, and she gets her chance to turn the tables, with only the step up to 1600m being a query for us. 8. OVER THE BRIDGE cruised home to win her maiden at Bendigo on debut, and then proved that was no fluke by winning the G3 Scarborough Stakes last time out. She is up sharply in trip, but her breeding says it won't be an issue so stick with her. 4. DE ARMAS has had a couple of starts in Sydney after starting her career in NZ, and she is bang on target for this third up. Can win.

ICELADY (5) is likely to lead, with SAINTLY DANCER (3) and LARA ANTIPOVA (1) applying pressure, a pace shape that could bring the off-pace runners into contention. REGAL AMBITION (9) has won her last two, including over 1440m here, and shapes as a major threat despite settling back. OVER THE BRIDGE (8) is unbeaten in two, including a Caulfield G3 win, although the mile is a substantial step up from sprint trips. DE ARMAS (4) was beaten just 0.4 lengths when runner-up in a G1 over this trip last start and brings strong class credentials. PRETTY BABY (2) followed a Listed 1300m win with a Listed 1440m second, and the step to the mile looks manageable.
