When resuming last campaign third of 26 at Ascot in the G1 King Charles III Stakes June 16 over 1005m, 1.0 len behind Mission Central with 60.5kg at $4.30. Has a good first-up record and can overcome the wide gate, respect.

Resuming (17 weeks). Terrific fresh sprinter coming off a UK trip. Trialling with zest and sure to take catching.

Returns after 119 days between official race starts and prepared with a Hawkesbury trial win on September 29. A G1 fourth over 1200m at Randwick provides strong class form, and maps forward despite the wide draw; a serious chance.

Pressed forward from a wide gate and gave a strong kick first up. Very honest Group 1 performer well worth thought.

Well placed second up and was much too good, albeit it got close on the line when she was eased down. Group 1 placed here in April on wet.

Bounced back to something like her best second up then didn't have the same punch at 1400m third up. Give another chance.

At the latest run ran second last of 9 in a Bm100 at Warwick Farm on October 5 over 1000m, slow going 4.5 len behind Ice Kool with 61kg at $8. The start before that sat on the speed and boxed on steadily 6th of 11 in a G2 The Shorts at this track on September 19 over 1100m, 1.5 len behind Mazu carrying 55kg at $81. Likely to find this out of reach.

Hasn't been far off some A-grade sprinters this time in. Dropped in grade latest, but caught wide. 1200m suits better. Place?

Was eighth in a BM100 over 1000m last start, following sixth and seventh placings in earlier G2 runs. Fourth-up, but recent figures point to a steep task.

Most recently ran second last of 14 in a Bm94 at this track on October 3 over 1200m, on a slow track; 6 len behind Wanaruah with 59.5kg at $61. The start before that 10th of 14 in the G2 Bobbie Lewis Quality at Flemington on September 12 over 1200m, 2.5 len behind Losesomewinmore carrying 54kg at $31. Looks tested again.

Backmarker who needs a bit to go right. Been out of form for a while and the predicted weather is cause for concern.

Finished 13th in a BM94 over 1200m last start after placing 10th and sixth in Group races. Fourth-up, but recent form is well short of what's required.

Last start 6th of 13 in the G1 Manikato Stakes at Caulfield on September 27 over 1200m, 3.5 len behind Jimmysstar carrying 58.5kg at $13. Rates highly. Back in grade and will need a good ride from the gate.

Pleasing return splitting Everest contenders Ninja and Angel Capital. Wide/solid in the Manikato. Each way.

Finished sixth in the G1 over 1200m at Caulfield last start, after running second in a G2 at Randwick in August. Third-up and likely to settle off the pace from the wide draw; needs to lift to feature.

Last start won by a nose in a Bm94 at this track on October 3 over 1200m in soft going defeating Platinum Pantheon carrying 59.5kg at $17. Going well for the new yard and keep safe.

Caught wide and found them too sharp first up over 1000m. Got control and kept kicking out to 1200m second up. Each way.

Led throughout to win a BM94 over 1200m at Randwick last start, reversing a 12th in a G2 at the same track. Third-up and likely to push forward again, but faces a steep rise in class.

Dual acceptor. Second-up. First-up after four months ran on from midfield and won by a long-neck in a Bm88 at this track on September 19 over 1100m defeating She's An Artist carrying 60.5kg at $5. Previously second-up won by 0.5 len in a Bm78 at Hawkesbury on May 2 over 1100m defeating Wanaruah carrying 60kg at $1.80. Hard to fault form but this is much harder.

Got a lovely run first up and sprinted sharply when called upon, winning nicely. Unbeaten at 1200m. This is tougher at weight-for-age.

Won a BM88 over 1100m at Randwick last start, but now steps up to G2 company and 1200m. Second-up and in winning form, though the class rise is a serious test.

First-up. Finished off last campaign 11th of 15 at this track in the LR Civic Stakes June 20 over 1400m, soft track; 5.5 len behind Midnight Dynamite carrying 54kg at $14. Previous preparation first-up won by nose Rosehill Bm94 April 6 over 1100m slow track defeating Our Kobison carrying 56kg at $14. Later on.

Resuming (17 weeks). Trialling well in lesser company. Can blow it at the start, but has a turn of foot. Any market lead?

Resumes after 119 days between official race starts, with a Rosehill trial win followed by a second, beaten 0.3 lengths, on October 2. An earlier Listed runner-up effort is a plus, but the two latest race runs were plain.

GRAFTERBURNERS (6) has been out of the placings in two runs since a break, the latest when fourth, beaten 3 lengths, over 1200m in the G2 Premiere Stakes at this track. Has further improvement to come and looks set to find best form. CHARM STONE (12) fought on well to finish third last start over 1200m in the G1 Manikato Stakes at Caulfield, beaten one length when fresh from a spell. Has her share of ability. Hard to beat in this suitable race. MARHOONA (15) improved at the second run back from a spell last start when third over 1200m in the G2 Premiere Stakes at this track, beaten 3 lengths. Unbeaten in two starts at the third run in so a top-three finish is on the cards. GENEROSITY (14) finished eighth, beaten 4.5 lengths, last time out over this course and distance after coming from an outside draw. Can do much better.

Dabble

CHARM STONE (12) Gave a strong sight when 3rd last run at Caulfield and goes down in grade. Can get the job done. SKYBIRD (13) Strong effort to the line to win last start at Flemington on a heavy track but facing a stronger group of contenders. Expected to be flashing home. Key player. PERICLES (3) Finished 7th last time at Caulfield but facing less formidable opponents. Worth strong consideration. GANGSTA GRANNY (16) Didn't threaten when 5th last start at Rosehill but solid performer at this trip in the past. Interesting gear change of winkers on first time. Suitably placed in this race.

Timeform (FanDuel)

GRAFTERBURNERS (6) finished third to Tempted over this track and trip in the Arrowfield last April and looks to be near his best after running fourth in the G2 Premiere Stakes over 6f here. Rawiller goes aboard from the low draw and is due for a change in luck. CHARM STONE (12) sat on the solid tempo first up in the G1 Manikato Stakes over 6f at Caulfield when collared late by Jimmysstar from a wide gate to run third. Clearly returned in great shape and sure to be thereabouts. MARHOONA (15) The Galaxy winner who gets a better set-up third up with the visors going on. Caught the eye when third in the G2 Premiere Stakes. A top-three finish is on the cards. GENEROSITY (14) two runs back have only been fair and assess off her close up fifth in the Galaxy and sixth in the Sangster last prep. OVERPASS (1) tough fresh gelding resuming. Fitted with the two sharp trials and can take a hand in the finish despite drawing out.

Best Bets

Here's you second string sprint on the day.....worth a tidy $2M. 5 and 10 can head the field. What two runs this prep (and one at the end of last) indicate is she is no match for Tempted but the same was not always true. When MARHOONA won her Slipper last year Tempted was 3rd behind her (albeit unlucky). Besides, there's no shame in being outshone by the Goldolphin mare recently (and she may well prove that even more emphatically in the next) so MARHOONA looks well placed from what should prove a perfect draw. OVERPASS drawn awkwardly but would love to see him come back from the UK with a good run. He won this in 2024 of course.

Darren Flindell

A huge field will contest the Group 2 Sydney Stakes over 1200m which is also worth 2 million dollars. 6. GRAFTERBURNERS followed up a solid fresh effort in the Shorts Stakes here last month, with a somewhat unlucky fourth in the G2 Premiere Stakes on this track a fortnight ago. He is perfectly drawn for his peak run third up, and with Nash Rawiller picking up the ride, he will be hard to hold out. 12. CHARM STONE treks north after finishing the bravest of thirds in the G1 Manikato Stakes at Caulfield nearly 3 weeks ago. She cops another tough gate, but at this level, she should go close to taking it out. 15. MARHOONA is a very progressive mare closing in on another win after finishing third in the G2 Premiere Stakes here a fortnight ago. She is unbeaten in a couple of starts third up in the past, and a wet track won't bother her. Each way. 14. GENEROSITY caught the eye late last start, and JMac keeps the faith. She will be at good odds and can get some of this.

COAL CRUSHER (5) looks the main pace influence, with CHARM STONE (12) also expected forward and GRAFTERBURNERS (6) positioned to track the speed, setting up a clear speed scenario. CHARM STONE (12) comes off a G1 third at this distance and is second-up, giving her strong claims. GRAFTERBURNERS (6) was fourth in a G2 last start after being inconvenienced late, following an earlier G2 placing this prep. OVERPASS (1) resumes off a trial win and has G1 form over 1200m at Randwick, although the wide draw presents a map challenge. MARHOONA (15) arrives after a G2 third over 1200m and has a G1 win this year, making her a strong danger.
