Second run from a spell ran on strongly from last on the turn and won by a nose in the G2 Let's Elope Stakes at Flemington on September 12 over 1400m defeating Too Darn Discreet carrying 55kg at $51. Shock winner latest but inclined to risk this time.

Surprise winner second up, really charging late. All the fitter and she is up to taking on the males. Chance again.

Into the third run of the prep after a sharp turnaround with a G2 win over 1400m at Flemington last start. Maps off pace, and the mile presents a stronger stamina test.

SALTY PEARL (15) just missed last time out when fourth over 1400m in the G2 Let's Elope Stakes at Flemington. Won't be bothered by this longer journey. Ideally placed to take this out. SABAJ (8) is yet to find the frame in two runs since resuming from a spell, the latest when 12th over 1400m in the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at this track after he travelled towards the rear of the field. Generally runs well when third-up and can turn things around. WARNIE (3) finished sixth last time out over 1400m at this track, beaten 2.5 lengths. Well placed and likely to feature. EVAPORATE (1) went forward from a wide gate last time over 1400m in the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at this track but faded and missed the frame. Goes well at this journey with three wins and three placings from seven starts and deserves respect.

Dabble

SABAJ (8) Disappointing outing when 12th last start at the track but hard to fault at this trip. Has a great burst of speed late. Will give a big sight. REGAL AWARD (6) Was quite a handful for the competition when 3rd beaten by 1 1/4L last run at this venue. Likely to be well placed early. Can take this out. LADY SHENANDOAH (2) Was getting tired late when 4th last start at the track. James Mcdonald rates highly. A win wouldn't surprise. CHANGING COLOURS (13) Finished well when winning last start here and have to respect the form at the distance. Keeping a perfect win record the last 4 starts. Among better hopes.

Racing and Sports

Open race as you'd expect for the Toorak Handicap. Want to be forgiving of EVAPORATE (1) through the Rupert Clarke. He drew wide and had to burn across to sit outside the lead but then pulled up lame after fading. Much prefer him over a mile and he draws to do no work. CHANGING COLOURS (13) is absolutely flying for Lucy Yeomans, again showing a big turn of foot to win the G2 Stocks Stakes here last time. Now down to 52kg, she can sit midfield and rip home. LADY SHENANDOAH (2) was game in the Rupert Clarke, finishing fourth. She's a G1 winner at a mile and should be right there again. REGAL AWARD (6) led at a fast clip in the Rupert Clarke and battled on very well for third. He still does a bit wrong but will look the winner at some stage. VON HAUKE (5) was one of the better closers there and looks nicely suited to a mile second up, he's a big price in early betting.

Best Bets

Regal Award to lead at a solid tempo from Evaporate and Hellsing. WELCOMETOTHESHOW overcame difficulties to win third up. He should get the right run from barrier six and prove hard to hold out. Mark Zahra returns to the saddle on WARNIE. Zahra won on him two back and on Victoria Derby day last year. Warnie was an unlucky sixth here last start. EVAPORATE pulled up lame after working hard from barrier 15 in that race. He should get a better run from gate two. REGAL AWARD led and placed fresh. He'll take catching. CHANGING COLOURS is ready for the rise in class and with 52kg has claims.

The time-honoured Group 1 Toorak Handicap is over 1600m for a million dollars. 1. EVAPORATE had an excuse when finishing ninth in the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes here 3 weeks ago, pulling up mildly lame in a hind leg. He would not be here if he was not fully fit, and with a big swing in his draw this time, he can make amends. On top. 13. CHANGING COLOURS has gone to another level this prep, and made it 4 wins on the bounce when scoring an impressive win in the G2 Stocks Stakes here nearly 2 weeks ago. With the handicap conditions being in her favour, she will carry 3kg less this time, so stick with her. 2. LADY SHENANDOAH was a beaten favourite in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes when running on too late after hitting a flat spot before the turn. The rise to a mile will help, and she has the class to take this out. Follow your money. 6. REGAL AWARD gave a great sight in the same race as the top pick, and only weakened late off the top. He strips fitter, and will take some catching.

Racing Central

REGAL AWARD (6) looks set to lead, with LADY SHENANDOAH (2) and FEROCE (4) pressing close. That pressure should make the mile a genuine test and give WARNIE (3) the chance to settle behind the speed. LADY SHENANDOAH (2) brings a Caulfield G1 fourth and a previous G1 second over 1600m, giving her strong credentials at the distance. REGAL AWARD (6) was third in that Caulfield G1 over 1400m, and an earlier 1600m placing supports the rise in trip. FEROCE (4) comes off a G1 fifth and has a prior G3 second, although the mile from an outside, forward position is a test. WARNIE (3) won a Sandown G3 two starts ago before finishing sixth in a Caulfield G1; the pace should suit, but the mile is unproven.
