DEAKIN (3) has been about the mark of late. Last time out was 2 lengths from the winner in eighth over 2000m in the G3 Naturalism Stakes at Caulfield. Has the pace to be in a prominent position from the outset. Don't underestimate.

Only has to recapture the Derby win to figure prominently. DEAKIN (3) tough import who ran a tidy eighth in the G1 Caulfield Cup last year. Fitter after two runs back and gets on pace favours. THE EUPHRATES (1) two runs for the new yard have been sound but will need to go to a new level with the 59kg. Led throughout with a soft win in the G2 Kingston Town Stakes at this track. Gets a better set-up and stays in the mix. THEBUDGIESMUGLA (8) has a good record at the trip and don't dismiss in this grade.

SOUL OF SPAIN (2) worked home into third over 2000m last start and the rise to 2400m fourth-up suits his closing style. THEBUDGIESMUGLA (8) drops 4kg from his latest fourth over the same trip and a Soft 6 plays straight into his best form on ground with give.

GREEN SPACES did not finish his race off as expected in the G2 Kingston Town Stakes here 2 weeks ago, and is probably looking for this trip now. He ended his 3YO season by winning the G1 Australian Derby here, and is worth one more chance to show his best. 3. DEAKIN is another who has been eager to get out to this trip after just a fair effort in the Naturalism Stakes at Caulfield over 2000m a fortnight ago. His best would have him in the finish here, so stick with him. 1. THE EUPHRATES led all the way when winning the Kingston Town, and an extra 400m will only suit him more. He is up in weight, but ready to win again. 8. THEBUDGIESMUGLA is always worth including.

JUJA KIBO finished less than a length behind in that same G2 and should again settle close, giving him strong claims. DEAKIN was 8th in the G3 last start after placing 3rd at 1700m; the 2400m may bring improvement, although more is required.
