Rocketed home when winning last start at Randwick and lightly raced and looks professional. Flawless this campaign with 5 wins from 5 runs. Smart type.

Yet to taste defeat in five starts. When well in the market, ran on from midfield and won by a neck in the G3 Gloaming Stakes at Rosehill on October 10 over 1800m defeating Wonka with 54.5kg at $4. Last start tracked the speed and boxed on steadily; won by 1.5 len in the G1 Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick on October 24 over 2000m defeating Global Goal with 54.5kg at $3.70. Smashed the Derby winner last time and sets the benchmark here.

Denise's Joy last Oaks winner from such a wide draw - ouch! Can't fault the form, just needs the luck.

Won the G1 over 2000m at Randwick last start after an 1800m G3 success. The extra 500m is a test, though the on-pace map suits. Her strong credentials make her the one to beat.

Form hard to fault. At the latest run favourite; ran on from midfield and won by 1.3 len in the G2 Wakeful Stakes at this track on October 31 over 2000m defeating Girl With A Pearl with 56kg at $3.60. The race before that 4th of 12 in the G1 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield on October 17 over 1600m, 3 len behind Saintly Dancer with 56kg at $8.50. Very strong on Saturday and should stay this out well.

Showed a good turn of foot in the Wakeful and that is usually the best form reference for this race. Top chance for the double.

Won a 2000m G2 at this track last start after a G1 fourth over 1600m. The step to 2500m will test her staying depth, but she remains a major winning hope.

On a quick turnaround. Showed strength on the speed initially before fading at the end 3rd last time at this venue but matched against tougher rivals. Definitely worth considering.

Racing well recently. At the latest run led but faded 3rd of 17 in the G2 Wakeful Stakes at this track on October 31 over 2000m, 2.75 len behind De Armas with 57kg at $3.60. The start before that sat on the speed and boxed on steadily 2nd of 12 in the G1 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield on October 17 over 1600m, 1.3 len behind Saintly Dancer carrying 56kg at $11. Very game on a hot speed last time, sets up nicely here for the Melbourne Cup winning combination of Ethan Brown & Ciaron Maher.

Made the pace in the Wakeful on Saturday and didn't have it easy there, a game showing. Good each-way claims again.

Third in the G2 over 2000m here last start after finishing second in a G1 over 1600m two runs ago. She maps forward, but the 2500m is the key question. Her class keeps her firmly in contention.

Good from the rear at Caulfield, boxing on vs the boys in the MV Vase here last start. Still a maiden but a smart one.

A third in the G2 over 2040m at Flemington last start followed a held-up sixth in a G1 over 1600m. Going back again is a map disadvantage, but that latest staying effort keeps her in the mix.

Crossover noseband first time. Sound performance up in trip at Geelong and even longer here is going to suit all the more.

Was agonizingly close last run at Horsham but racing in stronger company. Interesting gear change of blinkers on first time. Very competitive this preparation. Will need to find a few more lengths.

At the latest run raced on the pace when 2nd of 9 in a Mdn-Sw at Horsham on October 18 over 2100m, nose behind Little Ally Bama with 55kg at $1.85. The race before that came from midfield; 3rd of 14 in a Mdn-Sw at Ballarat on September 30 over 2016m, 5.5 len behind Sister's Run with 55kg at $5.50. Looking to others.

Blinkers first time. Beaten short priced fave last time but it was another good effort. Still a maiden but a promising one.

A second over 2100m last start followed a third over 2016m, giving her some staying form, though the rise in grade is substantial. Place claims are limited.

Possible improver but hard to have.

Game in Edward Manifold on heavy here, not disgraced in the Vase. Hails from historic female line with several Oaks winners.

Runner-up in the G2 over 2040m here last start after another second over 1600m, she has enough staying form to be respected at the new distance. A genuine outsider with claims.

At the latest run 3rd of 14 in a G3 Ethereal Stakes at Caulfield on October 17 over 2000m, 1.0 len behind Quick Finish carrying 56kg at $26. The race before that came from midfield and won by 1.75 len in a 3yo Mdn-Sw at Kilmore on September 28 over 1450m defeating Levent carrying 56kg at $2. Sister to last year's winner Strictly Business, not hopeless.

Equicast 1st time. Quickly up in class/trip last time and she found the line nicely. Trainer and rider won this last year.

She finished third in the G3 over 2000m at Caulfield last start after a maiden win over 1450m. The 2500m presents a new challenge, but she has place claims.

Close to claiming the win last start at Mornington and facing an increased distance. Rising in grade.

At the latest run made significant ground from the rear of the field 2nd of 10 in a Mdn-Sw at Mornington on October 22 over 1500m, long-neck behind Top Rich with 55kg at $19. The race before that 8th of 12 in a F&M Mdn-Sw at Kyneton on October 8 over 1203m, slow going 5 len behind Blue Dream with 53.5kg at $101. Would have to improve further.

Found the line well after finding early trouble at Mornington but is right up in class and distance here.

She was runner-up over 1500m last start, but her other official runs have been well beaten and this is a major jump to 2500m. She looks up against it.

ICELADY (2) is racing well and is close to a win, the latest effort a solid third in the G2 Wakeful Stakes at this track over 2000m after being prominent from the outset. Finds a tougher race but another big run is on the cards. THARWA (15) could only manage to finish ninth, beaten 7 lengths, at her latest appearance over 2000m in the G2 Wakeful Stakes at this track after she got a long way back in the run. Expected to feature in the finish this time.

Put together a strong on-speed performance when 3rd last time at this track but up against stronger opponents. Should muster plenty of early speed. Worth strong consideration. QUICK FINISH (3) Racing on a quick back up. Was in the race for a long way when 3rd last run at the track. Should be going forward early. Going well this campaign. Can make a claim against these .

Timeform (FanDuel)

PROXIMA DEA (1) is a very talented filly, undefeated in five starts including a dominant win in the G1 Spring Champion at Randwick last start. She easily accounted for Stormy Marco there who came out and won the Derby on Saturday. Drawn wide but rolls forward and with any luck that form looks too good. DE ARMAS (4) has the right local platform, having won the G2 Wakeful Stakes on Derby Day as a well-supported favourite which is typically the best guide. 1 ?/16m looks to suit and she'll be charging late. ICELADY (2) was third in that same Wakeful and was attacked by a roughie on a hot speed, doing very well to stick on. 1 ?/16m a query but she gets every chance. QUICK FINISH (3) won the G3 Ethereal over a lot of her rivals then measured up very well in the Derby against the boys. Ticked the 1 ?/16m box there which counts for plenty, she'll take catching.

Best Bets

Traditionally the quick back up from Saturday's Wakeful Stakes has been the right form for The Oaks. This year it might be the quick back up from the Derby that provides the winner. QUICK FINISH was a gallant 3rd on Saturday. Her Ethereal win was just as brave. She's drawn to advantage. DE ARMAS won The Wakeful most impressively. She was the only one to emerge from midfield and beyond. Her stablemates YOUR COLOUR and THARWA looked good Oaks chances before The Wakeful. They disappointed. The unbeaten PROXIMA DEA has had her chances complicated by the wide draw. Her Gloaming win was tough and she had the subsequent VRC Derby winner behind her last time. ICELADY was brave on speed in the Wakeful when she had one eyeballing her most of the way. Lots of other small chances. SHAMEFUL IMPULSE and CHURCHILL ROSE were ok in The Wakeful.

The million-dollar feature over 2500m is the Group 1 Oaks. 1. PROXIMA DEA is unbeaten in all 5 starts and has gone to the next level in her last 2 runs, which includes her last run in the G1 Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick, which is a very strong form reference for this. She is bred for this trip, with the only query being her wide gate. She may just be too classy again. 4. DE ARMAS will be backing up from a dominant win on Saturday in the G2 Wakeful Stakes here over 2000m, and she maps to receive the run of the race in this.
